OLSH Trivia Night – RULES OF THE GAME

One team = Up to 8 Players  Each round = 15 Questions  Trivia Night = 4 rounds

Doors open up at 6pm, and each team is assigned a table at the registration area.  Trivia Competition will begin promptly at 7pm with a practice round

Please designate a Team Captain once you arrive at your table. Your Team Captain will be responsible for entering all answers on a smart device (phone or tablet).  

Each team's smart device must have the SpeedQuizzing app downloaded.

The Trivia Competition will consist of 60 questions; 4 categories with 15 questions in each round.  Team members must stay in their seats until the round is over.
Our emcee will give round by round instructions.  Format and timing of questions will be adjusted in certain rounds.

PLEASE leave all cell/smart phones/devices OTHER THAN the device you are playing on, off and out of sight during play --- NO OUTSIDE SOURCES ARE ALLOWED!  Should it be necessary for you to use your cell phone for a call, you are asked to leave the room and will not be permitted re-entry until the round is over.  Remember our staff and volunteers are watching!

Questions will be read once outloud and then will appear at the top of the app screen, as well as on the big screen.

The host will announce the winner after each round. Points accumulate through the four rounds to determine the overall winners.

Scoring: Teams will be awarded 10 points for a correct answer. The team that answers the fastest will receive 2 bonus points.

Mulligan: Teams can use a Mulligan to make up for 1 question per round that the team cannot answer.  Mulligans are for sale ONLY from 6:00pm – 6:45pm.  Once Trivia begins, you will NOT be able to purchase Mulligans.  The MAXIMUM number of Mulligans a team may purchase is 4.  Cost of 1 Mulligan = $10. Mulligans may be purchased at the registration table.

Intermissions: Teams will be given a 5 minute break in between the 1st and 2nd round and again in between the 3rd and 4th round.  A 15 minute break will be in between the 2nd and 3rd round, this is a great time to check out the raffle baskets 

Trivia Winners: After 4 rounds of questions are completed, the team with the most points is the winner.  The prizes to be awarded are: $200 cash to the winning team ($25 each for the 8 players - or divided as your team sees fit!)  and $500 to the OLSH Athletic Team of the winning trivia team’s choice.  In the event of a tie, the team who comes closest to its estimated score without going over, wins.  In the event of another tie, a tiebreaker question will be asked.  Decisions of the emcee are FINAL.

Please remember that while this is a fundraiser for OLSH Athletics, it is also an evening to promote fellowship among our OLSH Community.  Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of questions and answers, and to have an equal amount of difficult and not-so-difficult questions for all skill levels.
