We hope this helps to answer any questions you might have about our upcoming Trivia Night on
Saturday, September 23rd. Whether you attend these types of events regularly or if this is your first
trivia night, we hope you find this Q&A helpful! If you need any further clarification, please feel free to
reach out directly to Sarah Stuckeman at sstuckeman@olsh.org.
Thank you & hope to see you there!
1.) What is Trivia Night?
- Trivia Night is a fun, competitive evening where you and your teammates get to test
your knowledge of all things! There will be 10 rounds of trivia on a variety of subject
matters, from history, to science, to pop culture & music, and everything in between!
2.) When is Trivia Night and what time should I arrive?
- Trivia Night will be held in the OLSH AAC on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Doors open
at 6:00 pm and trivia will begin promptly at 7:00 pm. We anticipate the evening will
wrap up around 10:00 pm. When you check in at the AAC, your table captain will be
given a packet for your entire table. The packet will include answer sheets for the
evening and any extra games that you purchased online with your registration (Dead or
Alive, Heads or Tails, or Mulligans). In the time between your arrival and when trivia
starts at 7:00, feel free to decorate your table, set up your snacks & beverages, and
mingle with other attendees. You will have the opportunity to purchase additional
games and mulligans until 15 minutes before the start of the event if you didn’t buy them online when
you registered.
3.) What does it mean to have a trivia team?
- Teams consist of 8 individuals…bring anyone you want! This event is not exclusive to
just OLSH families and alumni. Anyone can attend - family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc. One person on the team should be designated “team captain.” As “team
captain,” you will be responsible for getting your table’s registration packet when you
arrive, as well as recording all trivia answers that your team comes up with on the
answer sheets provided to you in your packet.
4.) Do I need to have a team?
- No. If you have less than 8 people who want to sit together or if you are an individual
player, we can group you together if you like, or you can play alone. We will consult
with you closer to the night of the event to see your preference. It is highly advised to
have an entire table, though…more brain power!
5.) Does our team need to have a theme?
- While themes are not mandatory, we strongly encourage your team to have one.
Themes should be unique, fun, and appropriate. Your table will not be decorated when
you arrive—so it’s up to you and your teammates to decorate it anyway you’d like. You
may also dress up to match your themed table. For instance, some fun theme ideas
could be a favorite sports team, a profession, or your favorite movie, TV show, or
decade --- you can get as creative as you want! Or consult Pinterest if you need a little
extra help! There will be a prize at the end of the night for “Best Decorated
Table,” so creativity is key.
6.) What is the cost?
- Cost is $200 for a table/team of 8 or $25 per individual trivia player.
7.) How old do you need to be to play?
- You must be at least 21 years old to attend this event.
8.) Will there be food/drinks provided?
- Some snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be provided. Otherwise, this is a BYOB
event! Feel free to bring your own food and drinks. If you can coordinate your snacks
and beverages to match your theme, even better!
9.) Am I allowed to bring alcohol to Trivia Night?
- Yes, absolutely! Alcohol is permitted. For this reason, the event is 21+.
10.) What else is part of Trivia Night?
- We will have 50/50 raffle tickets for sale, games such as Heads or Tails and Dead or Alive, and a Mystery Gumball Game where you can play
to win an assortment of gift cards.
11.) Where do the proceeds from Trivia Night go?
- 100% of the proceeds will benefit the OLSH Athletics General Fund.
12.) What can I win?
- Cold, hard CASH! The top team at the end of the night will WIN a cash prize. The
first place team will receive a cash prize as well as a matching donation to the OLSH
team or extracurricular club of their choice.
13.) Who is running Trivia Night and how are questions determined?
- Our host and emcee for the night will be Pittsburgh Bar Trivia. They are also going to help
us announce raffle winners and all games of chance.
